About Makowsky Ringel Greenberg

Executive Bios

MRG’s principals have more than 60 years of experience in the management of apartment communities and small retail, office and industrial properties in Memphis – as leasing consultants, on-site property managers, and even construction superintendents on new development projects.  More importantly, Jimmy, Gary and Michael continue to take a hands-on approach, spending a significant amount of their time visiting properties in support of the more than 200 employees located at 50+ apartment communities and commercial properties throughout the greater Memphis area.

Michael Greenberg, CCIM, CPM
Chief Executive Officer

As chief executive officer, Michael Greenberg coordinates all acquisition, disposition, and financing activities for Makowsky Ringel Greenberg’s internal portfolio as well as real estate investment activities for a variety of client groups. He is both a certified property manager and certified commercial investment member. In addition, he is a life member of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors Multi-Million Dollar Club.

Greenberg is a graduate of The University of Michigan, from which he holds both Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Computer Engineering degrees. He is currently serving as board chair of Jewish Community Partners, the operating entity for the Memphis Jewish Federation and Memphis Jewish Foundation.

Greenberg serves as the firm’s principal broker for Tennessee and Mississippi. Prior to forming Makowsky Ringel Greenberg, LLC, he served as the chief financial officer of Makowsky & Ringel, Incorporated, a Memphis-based real estate development, management, and brokerage company. Previous real estate experience included Trammell-Crow Company. He also worked for IBM in Detroit, Michigan.


Jim RingelJim Ringel, CPM
Chief Operating Officer

As chief operating officer, Jimmy Ringel coordinates all property management functions of the firm’s apartment portfolio. Ringel also serves as the company’s director of marketing including corporate advertising and public relations, property advertising and marketing, leasing training, and economic and market research. Ringel is a certified property manager. He is past president of the Memphis Apartment Association, a position he held for two terms, as well as a past member of the Association’s Steering Committee. He is also past president of the local chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). He also served a two-year term as president of Plough Towers, a non-profit, affordable housing facility for seniors. Jimmy is a member of the real estate fraternity Lambda Alpha.

Ringel is a graduate of The University of Michigan and holds a Master of Business Administration from New York University. He is an affiliate broker of the state of Tennessee. Prior to forming Makowsky Ringel Greenberg, LLC, Ringel served as chief operating officer of Makowsky & Ringel, Incorporated, a Memphis-based real estate development, management, and brokerage company. Before that he worked for Grey Advertising and American Express, both in New York.

Gary MakowskyGary Makowsky, CPM
Chief Development Officer

As chief development officer, Gary Makowsky coordinates all development and construction activities for the firm. He serves as the chief executive officer of Makowsky Construction Company, LLC the firm’s construction subsidiary. He is a certified property manager. Gary is the former sole owner and president of Makowsky Construction Company, Inc. In that capacity he has overseen the construction and/or renovation of more than 2,000 apartment units, working with architects and engineers from the conceptual stages through final punch-out. Prior to merging his company into Makowsky Ringel Greenberg, Gary developed Makowsky Construction Company, Inc. into one of the premier apartment construction companies in the greater Memphis area.

Makowsky holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Kansas. He is the immediate past chair of the Memphis Jewish Community Center Board of Directors, and has served on several non-profit boards in the community.

Gary joined Makowsky & Ringel in 1983. As vice president of property management, he was responsible for more than 5,000 apartment units in the Memphis area.

Gary Lubin
Vice President, Commercial Leasing and Management

Gary Lubin, vice president of commercial leasing and management, has been involved in the Memphis real estate market since 1980. Mr. Lubin is an active member of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors and Tennessee Association of Realtors. He has served as the chairman of both the Professional Standards and Budget and Finance Committees, in addition to being secretary/treasurer of the Memphis Association of Realtors. He was instrumental in establishing the Commercial Investment Division (CID) of the Tennessee Association of Realtors.

A graduate of the University of Iowa and a Life Member of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors’ Million Dollar Club, Mr. Lubin has served on the board of directors of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, the Tennessee Association of Realtors, and Plough Towers.

Roger McLemore
Vice President of Commercial Property Services

Roger McLemore, vice president of commercial property services, oversees the operations of MRG’s commercial portfolio of more than 1.3 million square feet of retail, industrial and office space.  Roger has over a decade of experience in commercial real estate.

Roger is a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance with a real estate concentration. Prior to joining Makowsky Ringel Greenberg, LLC, Roger was vice president and regional asset manager for Lasalle Investment Management, Inc. in Atlanta where he led the strategic and operational growth of the CalEast Air Cargo (CAC) portfolio, a 3.8 million square foot North American On-Airport 3rd party building and ramp portfolio.
