MRG Helps Build Hope in Binghampton

October 1, 2018

Makowsky Ringel Greenberg  and the Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) recently partnered together in a building project that has made home ownership affordable for Binghampton resident Basuze Modogo.

MRG spearheaded and contributed to a fundraising campaign that resulted in numerous vendors contributing money, materials and labor to support construction of the 1,474 square-foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home constructed on a BDC-owned lot located at 285 Carpenter Street. Shapiro & Company Architects, Inc. contributed the custom home design, which appropriately reflects the characteristics of the surrounding community.

Basuze was presented the keys to his new home in a ceremony held on September 27th, during which BDC executive director, Noah Gray spoke about how the project contributes to the momentum of revitalization in the community. This marks the 18th new home constructed through the BDC, replacing another blighted property in the community with a quality home. Similar to previous BDC projects, a significant portion of the labor was provided by participants taking part in the BDC’s construction job training program, with MRG providing mentoring for those participants as a part of the project.
